PEENRA Updates on Environmental Accounts Statistics

As part of the continuing efforts of the Philippine Economic-Environmental and Natural Resources Accounting (PEENRA) unit in the development of environmental accounting and related environment statistics the following accounts/statistics have been updated:

• Compendium of Philippine Environment Statistics, 2004. The compendium is a compilation of statistical information collected from data produced by various government agencies and from data available in different statistical publications. The compilation of statistical data in this compendium is based on the Philippine Framework of Environment Statistics (PFDES) which is in consonance with the United Nations Framework for the Development of Environment Statistics. It covers data for the period 1992 to 2002, whenever possible.

• The Philippine Water Resources 2003. This publication is an update of the physical accounts of groundwater (updated to year 2001) and surface water (updated to year 2000). Due to the very limited data on the monetary aspects of water no updates was done on the monetary accounts.

• State of the Philippine Land and Soil Resources 2003. The publication dealt with the physical and monetary accounts of lands devoted to agriculture, forest (both for the economic and environmental uses), and brushland. The physical and monetary accounts of land devoted to agricultural uses are updates (updated to year 2000) while the physical and monetary accounts of lands devoted to forest uses and brushland covering the years 1988 to 1997 are new additions to the land and soil resources accounting. Moreover, the publication also contained the updated physical and monetary accounts of agricultural soil resource covering the years, 1988-2000.
