The Asia - Pacific Ministerial Summit on TSA aims to promote and enhance awareness on the TSA, identify the challenges faced by countries in the region, and develop strategies and action plan for the efficient and cost effective formulation and implementation of TSA.

The Regional Workshop seeks to discuss the need to come up with comparable tourism statistics as well as detailed and technical requirements for compiling data/ inputs for the TSA.  More importantly, the workshop aims to develop capacity of concerned agencies and improve existing statistical systems to facilitate the achievement of strategies and action plan defined by the ministers.  Specifically, the Workshop aims to improve the statistical capacity in the field of tourism statistics to carry out the following initiatives:

  • promote the development of the system of tourism statistics as a necessary condition to make progress in the measurement and analysis of the socio-economic impact of tourism; and

  • begin the tasks contemplated in the different stages recommended by the WTO for the development of TSA.
