Philippines Continues to Have Low Probabilities of Achieving the Targets
on MDG 2 on Education and MDG 5 on Maternal Health
(Posted 08 June 2012)

NSCB releases revised/rebased National Accounts Quarterly Series

Since the Fourth Progress Report on the Millennium Development Goals published by the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) in September 2010, only MDG 3 on promoting gender equality and empowering women declined from high probability of achieving the target to medium probability while the rest of the MDGs remained the same.

The country’s performance in achieving the MDGs are presented in the National Statistical Coordination Board’s (NSCB) updated MDGWatch available on the Philippine Millennium Development Goals (MDG) website (http://www.nscb.gov.ph/stats/mdg/default.asp).

The MDGWatch provides status on the progress of the Philippines on each of the 49 MDG indicators available at the Philippine Statistical System (PSS). It provides the probability of attaining the targets based on the current rate of performance for each indicator vis-à-vis the required rate to attain the target by 2015. Among the 49 MDG indicators, 25 indicators were updated based on the latest data available. Moreover, additional indicator on the proportion of employed population living below the national poverty threshold was also incorporated in the updated MDGWatch.  This can be downloaded at: http://www.nscb.gov.ph/stats/mdg/mdg_watch.asp
