in the Philippines
(FS-201203-SS2-01, Posted 15 March 2012)
In support of this year’s celebration of Women’s Month, the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) has issued a fact sheet focusing on the latest statistical updates on women and men in the Philippines. This year’s release includes new indicators on the following: a) Education; b) Work and Economic Participation; c) Happiness; d) Family Income and Expenditures; e) Agriculture; and f) Social Welfare and Development. Further, new tables on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), specifically on Goal 3, and Tourism are also included.
With these additional indictors, this year’s factsheet now contains 74 indicators covering 15 socio-economic sectors and gender concerns. It also includes data from the latest statistical reports and publications, such as the July 2011 Labor Force Survey (LFS), 2010 Survey on Overseas Filipinos (SOF), 2009 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES), 2007 Census of Population (PopCen), among others. It hopes to provide relevant and user-friendly information on gender issues that are deemed important to planners, researchers and other users for gender and development advocacy, planning, programming and policy setting.
